Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Earthworks Superintendent to join a leading $1Bn civil earthworks contractor based in Colorado. The role is a traveling position, requiring flexibility to oversee projects across the Midwest.

Responsibilities

As an Earthworks Superintendent, you will:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of earthworks operations on assigned projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate field crews, subcontractors, and equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to resolve any challenges or issues.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, schedules, and cost tracking.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Earthworks Superintendent or in a similar leadership role within the civil construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of earthworks operations, equipment, and techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide crews effectively.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to travel extensively across the Midwest for project assignments.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Day-to-Day

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting site inspections to ensure work is progressing according to plan.
  • Coordinating with project managers and engineers to address project needs and challenges.
  • Managing and scheduling field crews and equipment to optimize productivity.
  • Monitoring safety practices and conducting safety meetings as required.
  • Reviewing project plans and specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Communicating with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and milestones.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving any on-site issues that may arise.
