InfraRec is currently representing a confidential, billion-dollar union electrical contractor with a rapidly expanding Substation Division seeking a General Superintendent to provide executive-level field leadership across complex substation projects.

This is a senior leadership opportunity within a high-growth division backed by a nationally recognized contractor. While the role is centralized in the Midwest, nationwide travel may be required depending on project needs.


The Role

The General Superintendent will provide overall field leadership and operational oversight for utility-scale substation construction projects across multiple regions. This individual will oversee Superintendents and field teams, ensure project execution aligns with company standards, and drive safety, productivity, and labor performance across all active work.

This is a strategic, boots-on-the-ground leadership role within a union environment, requiring strong labor relations experience and the ability to manage large, multi-crew substation projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level oversight of field operations across multiple substation projects

  • Lead and mentor Superintendents, Foremen, and union field personnel

  • Drive safety culture and ensure compliance with company, client, and union standards

  • Oversee manpower planning, labor forecasting, and productivity tracking

  • Coordinate with Project Management on schedule execution and risk mitigation

  • Support preconstruction planning, constructability reviews, and execution strategy

  • Ensure quality control and adherence to client specifications

  • Interface directly with utility clients and senior leadership as needed

  • Support scaling efforts within a rapidly growing Substation Division


Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in substation construction, with significant field leadership experience

  • Proven background working within a union electrical contracting environment

  • Experience overseeing multiple Superintendents and large field crews

  • Strong knowledge of substation construction practices (foundations, steel erection, bus work, equipment setting, relay/control installation)

  • Demonstrated success managing complex, utility-scale projects

  • Strong understanding of labor management, workforce planning, and productivity metrics

  • Willingness to travel nationally as project demands require

  • OSHA certifications and additional safety credentials preferred


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $200,000 – $230,000 (DOE)
